A new home for Blackstone~

December 17, 2012 by Raine Miller 51 Comments

Well, the news is out and I can finally open my mouth about it.  I’ve been sitting on this for a couple of weeks and the wait has been killing me, but now I can break the silence.  I am thrilled to share with you that The Blackstone Affair has found a new home with Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, and has been welcomed by the same house that publishes the likes of Colleen Hoover, Jamie McGuire, and Vince Flynn!!!  Needless to say, I am grinning like a Cheshire cat since I’ve received the offer and I couldn’t be happier to be working with Atria Books and am in utter awe of my superhero agent, Jane Dystel of Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.  Wow and a head shake is all I have to say about that.

Here is the link to the press release that Publisher’s Weekly put out in an exclusive on December 17, 2012.  A very nice early Christmas present I would say.

So what does that mean for my series?  Well, it means that The Blackstone Affair Parts 1 – 3, are no longer indie/self-published, and it means the books will be in bookstores, in actual print that you can hold in your hand!!!  *somebody’s pretty excited about this little bit*

Naked and All In are already up under the Atria imprint and Eyes Wide Open is still to come of course, as I am working hard to finish the manuscript in the time frame I’ve set for the book.  Having a publisher also means that the book will be available for pre-ordering when the time comes and you won’t have to worry about “when” once Atria announces that date.  *Please don’t shoot the messenger…I just write the books now, not publish them*  That was a joke and I hope you’re smiling.

I think this calls for a little celebration.  *pouring some Blackstone Malbec and tipping my glass to Ethan and Brynne*

xxoo Raine

So excited for you Raine, and know that you will, one day, have a reputation as grand as Barbara Cartland! I am raising a glass to you now! Congrats!!

Ha ha, Sharon. That is very sweet, but I highly doubt it. Barbara Cartland wrote over 700 books in her lifetime. Seven Hundred. Try to wrap your head around that one! Thank you for the message, my dear.

Congratulations! You deserve it. Your writing is wonderful and it was only a matter of time before publishers noticed. Your reading fans sure did.

Can’t wait to read Eyes wide open.

Congrats Raine! I just hope that it doesn’t mean we’ll have to wait longer for Eyes Wide Open to be published. I must admit I’m a little sad that
you’re not self publishing the books–seems publishers like to control the publishing dates and stretch it out for as long as possible, to build excitement and torture readers! That’s what has happened to a lot of the series I like to read (i.e., Sylvia Day’s Bared To You Series, Lisa Renee Jones’ If I Were You Series, etc) and the price usually goes up.

Those two things were what partially made me excited about your books. . . of course the great plot, characters and writing were number one! I realize you’ve got to feed your family and you can’t live on only the adoring praise of your fans forever– this is your career after all. Hopefully, you’ll forgive my selfishness, I know that this is a good thing for you . . . I’m just anxiously awaiting my next fix, Eyes Wide Open, and suffering from withdrawl symptoms. 😉

I hear you, Sophie, and trust me, I’ve struggled with the decision to give up my indie author status. The offer was something I could not pass on however, and was a career-maker for me–it has made it possible for me to achieve my dream of quitting the day job and writing full time. That means more books I can write and get out to readers. I don’t think the delay in getting Book 3 out will be too horribly long though. Keep the faith. Ethan is on his way.

It can be released next week or a year from now – as long as you are happy with the way the story for Ethan and Brynne turns out and feel that it is ready to be released – I will be patiently waiting to read it. 🙂
